MARK BEES

Humanistic Counselling

As a Humanistic counsellor I believe all human beings are motivated by their need to realise their potential. I work with the client to help them have a deeper understanding of who they are, what they feel, to explore with the person the possibility of creating new personal choices and solutions. (I believe that solutions and answers that the client produces for themselves are always the best ones.)

The Humanistic approach encourages self-awareness and self-realisation. It focuses on a person’s unique potential to be able to explore, grow and develop their creativity.

Since qualifying in 2004 I have worked with many clients with a range of concerns from bereavement (loss comes in many forms), relationship problems, substance misuse, depression, eating disorders and self harm; clients who are struggling with major changes in their life and others who wished to become more self aware and achieve a better understanding of themselves.

‘A SAFE PLACE TO TALK’

Counselling provides a safe environment for a person to explore, with the help of the counsellor, issues that may be troubling them. It is safe to say in every person’s life there are times of difficulties. At one time or another we may feel very low, down, or feel that things are not going our way. It maybe we are troubled but don’t know why or what to do about it?
During our lives things happen to us that we have no, or very little, control over. Bereavement, break up of relationships and many other things can leave us with a sense of deep loss.  All these things can turn our world up side down and at times we can struggle to see a way through.

Counselling is a place where you can explore difficult issues, in a safe, none judgmental environment in which the counsellor can help support you as you find new ways to balance and maintain yourself.  The counselling process by its very nature can help heighten an individual’s self awareness and so help their personal growth.  (Some clients come to counselling for this reason alone, to have a better understanding of who they are)

INITIAL CONSULTATION

This is an opportunity for you to talk through your experience, to ask questions and discuss your expectations. You will have an opportunity to consider whether counselling is likely to help. It should be noted that counselling can often be helpful but this can not be guaranteed. During the initial consultation we will consider together your needs and experiences, and at the end of the session discuss the best way forward for you. (Please note my standard session rate applies for the initial consultation)
